The District: poolside cocktails in CityLife
A church turned hotel
On via Bartolomeo Colleoni, between the CityLife district and the Milan trade fair pavilion, the NH Collection Milano CityLife hotel was created by converting the former church of Cristo Re: the nave, columns and capitals were preserved, and a tower of guest rooms was added. Right at the top, on the thirteenth floor, is the rooftop The District – Cocktails & Pool. The hotel has a second bar, near the restaurant, but in fine weather the roof is where it all happens.
Around a rectangular pool lined with grey sun loungers and large white pillars, the terrace opens onto the three CityLife towers and, further away, the Porta Nuova skyline. The spectacle is especially impressive at sunset.
The seven deadly sins as cocktails
The cocktail list is inspired by the seven deadly sins, at around €15 a glass, alongside wine, aperitivo snacks, salads and more elaborate plates. During the warmer months, DJ nights regularly liven up the terrace, which can also be booked for private events.
Practical information
The District is seasonal: it opens every year from May to October. During the day, the pool is reserved for hotel guests; the bar, however, also welcomes outside visitors. Opening hours vary with the season, so it is advisable to call the hotel before coming. The venue is within walking distance of the MiCo convention centre and the CityLife district.
For a relaxed aperitivo above the CityLife towers, The District is an address to keep in mind for fine weather.
