Gallery Rooftop Bar: cocktails above the Spree

On Mühlenstraße, between the Uber Arena and the murals of the East Side Gallery, the Hotel Indigo Berlin – East Side Gallery devotes its 8th floor to a bar open to all. A lift takes you up from the hotel lobby. At the top, a bright lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows opens onto open-air terraces furnished with sofas and large parasols.
The view takes in the Spree and the Oberbaumbrücke, the former crossing point between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, as well as the new district around the arena. At sunset, the terrace seats are the most sought after.
A menu that tells the story of Berlin
The cocktail menu mixes classics and creations with Berlin names, such as “The Wall” or “F'hain Mule”, most of them between €14 and €16. There are also mocktails, draught beers, wines by the glass and champagne. To nibble on: nachos, pimientos de Padrón, calamari, and plates of manchego or jamón serrano.
The bar hosts DJ nights and a big New Year's Eve party, and can be hired for birthdays, company parties or end-of-year dinners.
Practical information
The bar is open Tuesday to Thursday from 6pm to 1am, Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 2am; it is closed on Sunday and Monday. Indoor tables can be booked online, but the terrace works without bookings, on a first-come, first-served basis: arrive early on summer evenings. Getting there: S-Bahn and U-Bahn Warschauer Straße, or U1 Schlesisches Tor on the other side of the bridge.
