Grand Central Rooftop Bar: a hanging garden opposite the central station

The roof of Hotel AMANO Grand Central

On Heidestraße, Hotel AMANO Grand Central faces the Hauptbahnhof, on the edge of Europacity, the new district rising to the north of the station. With around 250 m² in the open air, open to the public from May to September, it is one of the largest rooftops of the AMANO group in Berlin.

Wooden decking, graphic rugs, planters, parasols and large benches with colourful cushions give it the feel of a hanging garden. The view sweeps over the station and the rooftops of Mitte all the way to the TV Tower; to the south, you can make out the Reichstag.

Cocktails, pizza and summer evenings

The open-air bar serves the house menu: great classics (negroni, margarita, mojito, paper plane) at €15, creations such as the mezcal-based Smoky Bomb or the Big Mule from €13 to €14, long drinks from €11 to €13 and wine by the glass at €12. There is no kitchen on the roof, but you can bring up a Neapolitan pizza from Gambino's, on the ground floor.

In summer, the terrace also hosts themed evenings, some of them ticketed, such as early-evening dance parties. It can be hired for events of up to 250 people. Unlike the group's other Berlin rooftops, it is wheelchair accessible; dogs allowed, no dress code, over-18s only.

Practical information

Open from May to September, daily from 5pm, depending on the weather and private events. In bad weather, the APARTMENT Bar on the hotel's 6th floor takes over from Tuesday to Thursday from 7pm to 2.30am, and on Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 4am. Bookings by phone or email.
