Bar Clara: cocktails beneath the Fotografiska pyramid
The roof of the former Tacheles
On Oranienburger Straße, the former Kunsthaus Tacheles, for many years an artists' squat, is now home to Fotografiska, a museum devoted to contemporary photography. On the 6th and top floor, a pyramid-shaped roof rises above the passageway leading into the new Am Tacheles quarter: this is where you will find Bar Clara, designed by Studio Aisslinger.
Inside, dark wood, blue velvet and a chequerboard parquet floor create a hushed lounge. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors open onto a terrace that surrounds the pavilion, with around forty seats both outside and in. The view stretches over the rooftops of Mitte and the domes of the neighbourhood, and the bar is especially well suited to sunset.
A menu that changes with the seasons
The menu mixes reinvented classics and house creations, refreshed with the seasons and echoing the world of the museum. Expect to pay €13 to €17 for a cocktail, €15 for most, with a few alcohol-free versions. The bar takes cards only, no cash.
