Sky: the Steffl's rooftop facing the cathedral
Above Kärntner Straße
Steffl is one of the historic department stores on Kärntner Straße, the pedestrian street linking the Opera to Stephansplatz. At the top, on the 7th floor, Sky occupies a large glass-walled room that extends onto the Roofgarden, a wooden terrace planted with trees, ornamental grasses and flowerbeds. You get there by a panoramic glass lift that leaves straight from the street.
The view is one of the most spectacular in the centre: the spire of St. Stephen's Cathedral and its colourful tiled roof rise right opposite, above the rooftops of the 1st district. On clear days, you can also make out the Prater Ferris wheel, St. Charles's Church and the hills in the distance.
A café-restaurant by day, a bar by night
All day long, Sky serves breakfasts and open sandwiches on sourdough bread, salads, bowls, sharing plates and Viennese classics such as veal Wiener Schnitzel or Backhendl, with brunch at weekends. The bar prepares spritzes, Austrian wines, champagne and a long list of house cocktails. On Friday and Saturday evenings, from 5pm to 1am, the Sky Bar runs without reservations, on a first-come basis.
