Cayo Coco: a touch of Havana on Vienna's rooftops
The rooftop of the Hoxton, Vienna
Opened in 2024 a stone's throw from the Stadtpark, The Hoxton, Vienna hotel occupies a marble-clad modernist building from the 1950s. On the 9th floor, Cayo Coco spreads across both sides of the roof: on one side a terrace with a pool, sun loungers and a thatched hut, on the other a large open terrace where people linger from evening into the night beneath a plant-filled pergola. In between lies an indoor lounge with sea-green tiled walls, palm trees and tropical-print armchairs.
From the terrace and the picture windows, the view sweeps all around the city: the spire of St. Stephen's Cathedral, the domes of the centre, the rooftops of the 3rd district and the hills in the distance.
Tropical cocktails and Caribbean rhythms
The menu takes its cue from the Caribbean: great tropical classics, house creations, spritzes and slushies, wines and ice-cold beer, served with small plates to share such as fritters, croquettes or tortilla chips with guacamole. The music follows the same theme, and the place works just as well for an after-work drink as for a whole weekend in the sun. The pool is reserved for hotel guests in the morning, then open to everyone by reservation.
