Settimo Cielo: in seventh heaven facing the cathedral
The top floor of the Hotel Royal
The Hotel Royal stands on Singerstraße, a quiet street leading off Stephansplatz. You walk through the lobby to take the lift up to the 10th floor, where Settimo Cielo occupies a dining room with large picture windows. Behind the bar, the roof of St. Stephen's Cathedral with its colourful tile patterns seems almost within reach; further away stretch the rooftops, domes and church towers of the old town.
In fine weather, a narrow but charming terrace, decked with oleanders and parasols, adds around thirty outdoor seats. That's the ideal time to come, whether for lunch or at sunset.
An Italian table
The kitchen reinvents Mediterranean classics, with fish and meat, pasta and antipasti, accompanied by a list of Italian wines and creative cocktails. On weekdays there's a business lunch that changes daily, and the restaurant also offers a tasting menu, candlelit dinners and group menus. The dining room can be booked privately for weddings, birthdays or corporate meetings.
