Yamashiro: a Japanese garden on a Downtown rooftop
A terrace of nearly 840 square meters on the 9th floor
The original Yamashiro is a Japanese restaurant in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. Its Miami outpost opened in late 2025 on the 9th floor of the Gale, a Downtown hotel and residential tower a few blocks from the Freedom Tower. Across nearly 840 square meters, the decor borrows the codes of the Japanese garden with a Miami twist: koi ponds, bonsai, wooden pergolas, illuminated sculptures and fire pits. Low banquettes sit beneath the pergolas, and the view opens onto the skyscrapers of Downtown and Biscayne Bay.
Sushi, robata and cocktails with a show
The menu ranges from sushi and sashimi to robata grill, rice pots, gyoza, Japanese wagyu and seafood, with signature dishes like the katsu sando and miso corn ribs. Cocktails, around $20 to $28, often come with tableside theatrics; a tea ceremony and a martini cart round out the menu, alongside sake, Japanese whiskies and Hitachino beers. On Sundays, brunch is served from 11:30am to 4pm, and the spaces can be booked for events.
