Astra: a Greek garden on a Wynwood rooftop

In a neighborhood best known for its murals, Astra has taken over a rooftop on NW 2nd Avenue, a few hundred meters from the Wynwood Walls. The venue bills itself as a “sky garden”: terraces planted with olive trees, lemon trees and other Mediterranean species, wooden pergolas strung with lanterns, and teak banquettes piled with cushions. To the south, the view takes in the rooftops of Wynwood and the towers of Downtown, especially beautiful at sunset.
Mezze, grilled dishes and cocktails
The kitchen draws on the Greek and Mediterranean repertoire: taramasalata, tzatziki and other pikilia for sharing, saganaki flambéed with ouzo, grilled octopus, spanakopita, lamb keftedes, then whole grilled fish deboned tableside, skewers and charcoal-grilled meats. House cocktails are $18 (a berry margarita, a raspberry mule, the Summer in Mykonos with gin and mastiha), and the Smoked Old Fashioned, smoked tableside, is $21; there are also Greek wines as well as beers. The venue also offers hookah and bottle service.
On weekends, brunch is served from noon to 4pm. In the evening, the vibe gets more festive with a DJ, and the rooftop regularly hosts parties and private events.
Practical information
Open Monday through Thursday from 6pm to 1am, Friday from 6pm to 2am, Saturday from noon to 2am and Sunday from noon to 1am. Happy hour runs all day on Monday and from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday through Saturday. Online reservations are recommended. Wynwood isn't served by Metrorail: a taxi or rideshare is your best bet.
