The roof of a five-star hotel in the Eixample
The Claris Hotel & Spa, a five-star grand luxe hotel from the Derby Hotels group, stands on the corner of Carrer de Pau Claris and Carrer de València, a few steps from Passeig de Gràcia. At the very top, its terrace combines a restaurant with white tablecloths, sheltered by sheer drapes, and a bar area with lounge seating and parasols. The atmosphere is intimate and refined, as suited to a dinner for two as to an early-evening drink.
A view over the Eixample
From the roof, the view stretches across the façades and rooftops of the Eixample. The terrace is climate-controlled in winter, so it can be enjoyed all year round. The pool and its sun loungers are reserved for hotel guests, but the bar and restaurant are open to everyone.
Mediterranean cuisine and cocktails
Chef Pedro Salillas creates seasonal Mediterranean cuisine focused on local produce: langoustine carpaccio with smoked sobrasada (€29), meagre ceviche, scallops with Maldonado bacon and beurre blanc, or rice “a la llauna” with red prawns and squid. A tapas menu is served all day, with oysters, Iberian ham croquettes or Cantabrian anchovies. At the bar, cocktails and spritzes cost €17. On weekdays, except in August, a lunch menu changes every week.
In summer, magic sessions on Thursdays and live jazz at weekends liven up the evenings.
Practical information
Open every day: bar from 11am to 1am (2am in summer), tapas from 11.30am to midnight, restaurant from 1pm to 3.30pm and from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. Booking is recommended for the restaurant; the bar works without reservations. The hotel asks guests to dress in keeping with the standard of the venue. Passeig de Gràcia metro (lines L2, L3 and L4) is a few minutes' walk away.
