Goja Rooftop: the Sagrada Família at the end of the terrace

On the eighth floor of the Renaissance Barcelona

The Renaissance Barcelona Hotel stands on Carrer de Pau Claris, in the Eixample, some fifty metres from Passeig de Gràcia and a few minutes' walk from Casa Batlló. Its roof, on the eighth floor, is home to Goja Rooftop, an open-air bar and restaurant open to all, whether or not they are staying at the hotel. The decor combines wooden decking, planters of tropical plants, parasols and string lights running along the glass balustrades.

An open view over the Eixample

From the tables, the eye sweeps over the neighbourhood's rooftops to the spires of the Sagrada Família, while Torre Glòries stands out on the horizon. Seats at the counter facing the basilica are the most sought-after at sunset.

Mediterranean cuisine and house cocktails

The menu is made for sharing: house bravas at €8.50, clarified gazpacho, Iberian ham croquettes, Mediterranean tiradito or corvina ceviche. For a proper meal, there are paellas with artichokes and porcini or with prawns and cuttlefish (€24 to €26), Iberian secreto, an entrecôte or burgers, followed by grilled pineapple or a dulce de leche fondant for dessert. At the bar, house creations such as the Hibiscus Cooler or the Gardel cost €16 to €18, the great classics €16, and a range of alcohol-free cocktails starts at €11. Brunch is one of the flagship offers, and DJs occasionally liven up the early evenings. The terrace can also be booked for private use for team dinners or parties, with group menus from ten people.

Practical information

Goja Rooftop is open all year round, every day from noon to midnight. Bookings can be made online or by phone and are recommended at weekends; for more than ten guests, it is best to contact the team directly. Smart casual dress recommended. Passeig de Gràcia metro (lines L2, L3 and L4).
