La Terraza del Pulitzer: a rooftop garden near Plaça de Catalunya
A green roof right in the centre
The Pulitzer hotel occupies a building on Carrer de Bergara, just a few metres from Plaça de Catalunya, where La Rambla and Passeig de Gràcia begin. On its roof, La Terraza del Pulitzer forms a small hanging garden: wooden decking, large tables, rattan armchairs, parasols and walls covered in plants. It has been welcoming Barcelona locals and visitors since 2013.
A view at rooftop level
No grand panorama here: the terrace looks out onto the neighbouring buildings, with their turrets and domes, between the old town and the Eixample. The appeal lies above all in the open-air garden atmosphere and the late-afternoon light.
Tapas, cocktails and #BuenasTardesPulitzer
The menu is made for grazing: olives, Iberian ham croquettes, patatas bravas, salt cod fritters, Russian salad with prawns, fried calamari, lamb skewer in pitta, mini cheeseburger or Iberian ham, from €4.90 to €28. At the bar, the classics (mojito, margarita, negroni, espresso martini…) cost €14 and the house creations €15; spritzes start at €10, as do the alcohol-free cocktails. Every season, the #BuenasTardesPulitzer series invites DJs to accompany the sunset from Thursday to Saturday, with vinyl and vermouth sessions at Sunday lunchtime in October.
Practical information
The terrace reopens every spring and closes in winter. In high summer, it is generally open every day from 5pm to 11pm; in October, from 5pm to 11pm on weekdays and from 1pm to 11pm at weekends, then only from Friday to Sunday in November, the last month of the season. Booking a table online is recommended. Catalunya metro (lines L1 and L3).
A relaxed meeting place for a breath of fresh air in the heart of the city.
