La Isabela: a rooftop above La Rambla
The roof of a hotel with colonial decor
The 1898 hotel occupies a restored 19th-century building on La Rambla, about 200 metres from Plaça de Catalunya and a ten-minute walk from the cathedral. On the roof, the La Isabela terrace brings together an outdoor pool, Balinese beds for lazing in the sun, a bar and tables for lunch or dinner.
A sweeping view over the rooftops of the centre
Perched above the bustle of La Rambla, the terrace offers a sweeping view over the rooftops of the historic centre and the neighbouring districts. The end of the day, at sunset, is the most pleasant time to head up.
Signature tapas and cocktails
The menu is for sharing or ordering by the plate: pan de cristal with tomato, Iberian bellota shoulder ham, free-range chicken croquettes, cochinita pibil tacos, smoked sardine tartare, burrata salad, homemade truffle pizza, rice with prawns and shiitake, fish of the day or entrecôte, from €5 to €23. For drinks, spritz, mojito, daiquiri, negroni, margarita or espresso martini cost around €15, alongside beers, vermouths, Penedès wines and a long list of spirits. Music accompanies the day.
Practical information
Terrace service resumes every summer, from June to the end of September, from noon to midnight (kitchen until 11pm); if it rains, it moves to the hotel restaurant. Non-resident visitors are welcome subject to availability and the pool is reserved for hotel guests: it is best to book online. Catalunya metro (lines L1 and L3) or Liceu (line L3).
A break in the sun, away from the crowds, just above La Rambla.
