The Roof: a garden perched above El Born

The roof of the Barcelona EDITION

The Barcelona EDITION hotel stands on Avinguda de Francesc Cambó, right next to Santa Caterina Market, between El Born and the Gothic Quarter. On the 10th floor, The Roof lines up small tables, sofas and sun loungers in shades of ivory, grey and blue on wooden decking, amid aromatic plants and a colourful bougainvillea. In the evening, the terrace is lit by candlelight.

A sea of rooftops all the way to the Mediterranean

From the terrace and its small urban pool, your gaze sweeps across the rooftops of El Born and the Gothic Quarter: the silhouette of Santa Maria del Mar, the undulating, multicoloured roof of Santa Caterina Market and, further away, the blue of the sea. When it is cool or raining, sliding glass walls close, so the terrace can serve all year round, by day and by night.

Seasonal cocktails and Mediterranean plates

At the travertine bar, the cocktail list follows the seasons: house creations such as the Barcelona Sour or the Strawberry Fields cost €17 and mocktails €11. On the food side, there are bravas (€9), Iberian ham croquettes, octopus salad or a bavette from Santa Caterina Market (€26) to share, complemented by a few Lebanese specialities. On Saturdays, from noon to 4pm, a brunch brings together three courses and a drink for €40.

The terrace can also be booked privately for a corporate evening or a party, for up to 90 guests cocktail-style.

Practical information

The Roof is open every day from 11am to midnight, without reservations: just turn up, and only requests from large groups go through the hotel team. Jaume I metro (line L4) or Urquinaona (lines L1 and L4), a few minutes' walk away; the Picasso Museum and the Palau de la Música Catalana are close by.

An elegant stop for rising above it all in the heart of the old town.
