A terrace on the former fish market
The Vincci Porto, a four-star hotel on Alameda de Basílio Teles, occupies a former fish market on the banks of the Douro, halfway between the Ribeira and Foz. Its roof is home to Douro Sky Lounge: long cushioned banquettes set against the low wall, high and low tables, green parasols, potted olive trees and an open-air bar.
The Douro and the Arrábida
The terrace looks downstream. Directly opposite, the great arch of the Arrábida Bridge spans the Douro, with the districts of Vila Nova de Gaia on the other bank. At the end of the day, it is the sunset over the river that draws the biggest crowds.
Cocktails, snacks and evenings out
The drinks menu lines up a variety of cocktails, including several alcohol-free ones, and sangrias, with a selection of snacks and small plates to go with them. The venue also has a real festive side: concerts and “sunset parties” regularly feature on the season's programme.
The terrace is seasonal: it reopens every spring, from April to October. The rest of the year, the hotel keeps its indoor bar, the Douro Lounge, open.
