Amura: the Douro from the rooftops of Miragaia
A bar and a rooftop at the Timbre Virtudes
The Timbre Virtudes hotel stands on Rua de São Pedro de Miragaia, in the historic district that extends the Ribeira westwards, above the quays. Amura plays on two atmospheres: an indoor bar with stone walls, where mixology is taken seriously, and an open-air rooftop lounge, furnished with white sofas, woven armchairs and large plant containers, with a few parasols for hot days. The venue is not limited to hotel guests: you can simply come up for a drink.
The river below
From the terrace, the eye passes over the orange tiled roofs of Miragaia before reaching the Douro, its boats and, opposite, the hillsides of Vila Nova de Gaia. It is a quiet spot to unwind in the afternoon or wait for the sunset with friends.
Petiscos, simple dishes and signature cocktails
The 2026 menu gives pride of place to Portuguese bites: tuna tartare with XO sauce, octopus carpaccio, pastel de leitão, alheira croquettes, cheese and charcuterie boards, from around €12 to €19. For a more substantial meal, there are Caesar salads, pizzas, a house burger or prego on bolo do caco, and in the evening, from 7pm to 10.30pm, a few dishes such as bacalhau à brás or an oven-baked rice to share.
At the bar, signature cocktails sit alongside sangrias and the great classics; the menu also lists a fine selection of gins, served as gin and tonics from €11 to €25, and port by the glass from €8.
