17º Restaurante & Bar: Porto from the 17th floor

At the top of a historic Baixa hotel

The Hotel Dom Henrique Downtown opened in 1973 on Rua do Bolhão, a few steps from the famous covered market of the same name, and was renovated in 2015. A lift goes straight up to the 17th floor, some 150 metres above sea level, home to a restaurant and a bar open to hotel guests and visitors alike.

From the picture windows and the adjoining terrace, protected by a glass balustrade, the eye takes in the whole city: the mosaic of Baixa rooftops, the bell towers and towers of the historic centre, then, on clear days, the line of the Atlantic on the horizon. At night, the illuminated city stretches as far as the eye can see.

Mediterranean and Portuguese cuisine

The restaurant, open all year round, serves signature cuisine that blends Mediterranean flavours with Portuguese tradition: an à la carte menu, a tasting menu, group menus and, at lunchtime, a set-menu “almoço panorâmico”. Whenever the weather allows, you can have lunch or dinner on the terrace.

Cocktails, gins and petiscos at the bar

At the bar, the atmosphere is more relaxed: a long cocktail list, from great classics to house creations, a selection of gins, port and Madeira wines, and a tea menu. To nibble on, there are Portuguese petiscos (alheira croquettes, peixinhos da horta, tortilla, cheese and charcuterie boards) and sandwiches. The venue also hosts birthday parties and corporate cocktail receptions.

Practical information

The bar opens every day at noon and closes at 1am from Sunday to Wednesday and at 2am from Thursday to Saturday. The restaurant serves from 12.30pm to 3pm and from 7pm to 10.30pm (11pm on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays). Bookings by phone on +351 22 340 1617.
