Terrazza Borromini: Piazza Navona from above
Two terraces in Palazzo Pamphilj
Palazzo Pamphilj lines the west side of Piazza Navona, one of the most famous squares in Rome. Its upper floors house two complementary venues under the name Terrazza Borromini. On the fourth floor, the restaurant opens onto a terrace that runs alongside the dome of Sant'Agnese in Agone, with indoor dining rooms decorated with frescoes. At the very top, the La Grande Bellezza rooftop looks out over the rooftops of the historic centre.
A view over baroque Rome
From the terraces, the eye looks down on the obelisk and Bernini's Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, then sweeps across the domes of the centre and, in the distance, the dome of St Peter's. Sunset is the most sought-after moment, when golden light glides over the tiled roofs.
Mediterranean cuisine and cocktails
The restaurant offers a menu inspired by Mediterranean tradition and the Italian regions: fish, pasta, grilled meats and Sicilian desserts, with a selection of wines. On the rooftop, the menu focuses on tapas, grilled dishes and sharing plates, but above all on cocktails, from house creations to reinvented classics. Expect to pay around €20 per cocktail. A panoramic brunch is also served.
The terraces host private and corporate events, as well as open-air opera evenings with an aperitif on certain dates.
Practical information
The restaurant serves every day from noon to 3pm and from 7pm to 11pm; the rooftop is open from midday until late in the evening. Bookings are taken by phone or email only, with a credit card as a guarantee, and are strongly recommended for sunset. The entrance is on Via di Santa Maria dell'Anima, behind the square. There is no metro station close by: the easiest option is to walk from the Pantheon or Campo de' Fiori, or take a bus to Corso del Rinascimento.
