Roof Garden Hotel Forum: dinner above the Fori Imperiali
A balcony over ancient Rome
The Hotel Forum stands on Via Tor de' Conti, on the edge of the Monti district, directly opposite the Forum of Nerva. Its top floor houses two complementary spaces: the Roof Garden Restaurant, under a covered veranda that allows dining there in every season, and the American Bar, set on the terrace beside the Romanesque bell tower of the neighbouring church, among plants and wicker armchairs.
A view from the Vittoriano to the Colosseum
The panorama is the venue's great asset: the ruins of the Fori Imperiali stretch out below, between umbrella pines and ancient columns, with the white mass of the Vittoriano and Piazza Venezia on one side, and the Basilica of Maxentius and the Colosseum on the other. At sunset and then after dark, when the monuments are lit up, the spectacle takes on another dimension.
Italian cuisine and cocktails on the terrace
The restaurant offers Italian cuisine blending traditional recipes with more contemporary touches, alongside a well-stocked cellar. At the American Bar, you can enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine facing the ruins, as an aperitif or after dinner. The venue also hosts private events, business lunches and weddings.
Practical information
The restaurant is open all year round, to outside guests as well as hotel residents: dinner from Monday to Saturday from 7pm to 11.30pm, lunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 12.30pm to 3.30pm; it is closed on Sunday evenings. Access is through the hotel lobby, and booking by phone is strongly recommended. Cavour station (Metro line B) is about ten minutes' walk away, with the Colosseum a little further.
