Thea Terrace: the Acropolis above the rooftops of Plaka
A flower-filled terrace at the top of the Central Hotel
On Apollonos Street, about 200 metres from Syntagma Square, the Central Athens Hotel has turned its roof into a bar and restaurant. Thea Terrace is split between a glass-walled room with a bar and an open-air terrace lined with vertical gardens covered in flowers, with low tables, high tables and a large wooden communal table.
The panorama opens onto the rooftops of Plaka, above which rise the Acropolis rock and the Parthenon. In the evening, when the site is lit up, the terrace feels like a balcony over the ancient city.
From brunch to dinner, cocktails at any time
The bar opens from 11am: coffees, fresh juices and snacks during the day, then cocktails in the evening. The cocktail list includes classics at €12 and house creations from €12 to €15, such as the Thea Terrace Experience with gin, apple and cucumber or the Amazing View with mandarin. At weekends, brunch is served from 11am to 4pm.
The restaurant offers a Mediterranean and Greek menu: octopus and Santorini fava, cod croquettes with tarama, a reinvented moussaka, rack of lamb, sea bream or Black Angus burger. Expect €13 to €18 for a starter and €25 to €39 for a main course.

The bar is open every day from 11am to midnight; the restaurant serves from 4.30pm to 11pm, with hours that may change in winter. Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Booking online or on +30 210 323 4350. Syntagma metro (lines 2 and 3) is a few minutes' walk away.
