The Zillers: a Michelin-starred table on a roof facing the Acropolis
An architect's house turned hotel
On Mitropoleos Street, right next to the Orthodox cathedral of Athens, a neoclassical building was the family home of Ernst Ziller, the German-born architect who designed several public buildings in the Greek capital. Today it houses a small boutique hotel, whose roof is home to the house's fine dining restaurant.
In the evening, tables dressed in white linen line up on the terrace: on one side, the nearby Metropolitan Cathedral; opposite, the Acropolis and the Parthenon, which light up at nightfall above the rooftops of Plaka.
Two Michelin-starred tasting menus
Awarded a Michelin star for the first time in 2022, a distinction it has kept ever since, the restaurant offers two tasting menus created by executive chef Vasilis Roussos. Synecdoche (€130 per person) and Synthesis (€165 per person) revisit Greek classics, from avgolemono to vasilopita, with seafood, wild mushrooms and vegetables from the house's kitchen garden. A wine list accompanies the meal.
The roof can also be booked privately for weddings, christenings, business meetings or parties.

The restaurant opens in the evening only, every day from 7pm to 12.30am. Reservations are made exclusively online, on the official website; information on +30 210 322 2277. Monastiraki metro (lines 1 and 3) is about a five-minute walk away.
