Sense: a Michelin-starred dinner facing the Acropolis
At the top of the AthensWas hotel
The pedestrian street Dionysiou Areopagitou runs along the southern flank of the Acropolis, between the Acropolis Museum and Hadrian's Arch. At number 5, the AthensWas hotel, a member of Design Hotels, houses the Sense restaurant on its roof: an indoor dining room with a semi-open kitchen and an outdoor area surrounded by aromatic plants and climbing vines, sheltered by large glass panels.
The view takes in a large part of the city. The Acropolis rock and the Parthenon rise very close by; further away, Lycabettus stands out above the rooftops, and the view reaches as far as the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Sunset is the most sought-after time to book.
Michelin-starred contemporary Greek cuisine
Chef Alexandros Charalabopoulos reinterprets Greek recipes in a modern, often playful style: tomato fritter with Epirus feta, goat's milk yogurt tzatziki, kayanas with confit egg, a reinvented pastitsio, charcoal-grilled fish with Santorini Assyrtiko sauce. For the restaurant's tenth anniversary, two tasting menus are offered, at €115 and €98 for the vegetarian version, with wine pairings from €58 to €68. The restaurant holds one Michelin star.
Sense also welcomes those who come for a drink: signature cocktails and a list of Greek and international wines, recommended by the sommelier. The venue also hosts business lunches on request.
