Point A: facing the Parthenon, on the roof of the Herodion Hotel
A terrace at the foot of the Acropolis
In the Makrygianni neighbourhood, the Herodion Hotel stands less than 300 metres from the Acropolis and a few dozen metres from the Acropolis Museum. Its roof, on the 5th floor, is home to Point A: wooden decking, flowering hedges, low armchairs and a long bar, renovated in 2019 to enlarge the space.
The decor fades away before the view. On one side, the ramparts of the Acropolis and the Parthenon rise above the rooftops; on the other, the glass façade of the Acropolis Museum reflects the sky. At nightfall, the illuminated monument faces the tables. Works by Greek artists, on loan from nearby galleries, are exhibited on the terrace.
Cocktails and Mediterranean cuisine
The cocktail list changes every summer: rosé negroni, strawberry colada, smoked mezcal margarita or rum tiki, from €12.50 to €16, with a few alcohol-free cocktails at around €9. On the plate, the Mediterranean cuisine draws on the Greek repertoire: tuna carpaccio, blue crab tartare, mushroom dolma, pasta, sea bream or sea bass, Black Angus rib-eye. A menu of bites goes with the drinks at the bar.
On performance nights at the nearby Odeon of Herodes Atticus, an after-theatre menu is served until late.
