RoofDrop Bar: a drink for a good cause above Hammerbrook
The roof of the Villa Viva
Opened in 2023 in the Münzviertel, a few minutes from the central station, the Villa Viva is a hotel unlike any other: it belongs to the world of Viva con Agua, the Hamburg-based organisation that funds access to drinking water, and part of its profits goes to the organisation's projects. On the 12th floor, the RoofDrop Bar is its highest point. The room, designed with the Hamburg artist 1010, plays on undulating forms and a glass roof through which you can glimpse the sky; outside, a roof terrace extends the bar.
The panorama runs from the port to the Elbphilharmonie and from the Michel to the TV tower, above the office blocks of Hammerbrook. A small sauna on the roof completes the offer.
Seasonal cocktails
The summer menu lists around eight house creations between €13 and €16, including a reinvented espresso martini made with Franzbrötchen liqueur, the Franzbrötchen being Hamburg's emblematic pastry. Classics (negroni, spritz, whiskey sour) cost from €8 to €15, and a series of alcohol-free cocktails costs around €10 to €12. DJs and musicians perform regularly, and the hotel organises afterwork events, quizzes and art brunches.
Practical information
Open every day from 5pm, no reservations. The bar is sometimes booked for private events: the hotel advises checking its Instagram account before coming. Villa Viva, Schultzweg 4; the central station (Hauptbahnhof), served by all U-Bahn and S-Bahn lines, is less than ten minutes' walk away.
