Roof East: bars, games and cinema on a Stratford rooftop

Every year, Roof East takes over the roof of Stratford's multi-storey car park, above the shopping centre, a few minutes from the area's stations. The space, largely open to the sky, is decked out with garlands of colourful ribbons, deckchairs, planters and painted huts, with a few sheltered areas in case of showers.
The view is nothing like a skyscraper panorama: what you mostly see are Stratford's residential towers and new-build blocks. But early evenings up here are lively, and the sunset bathes the whole roof in colour.
Street food, cocktails and activities
Several bars serve cocktails, wines, craft beers and spirits, alongside street food counters (fried chicken, burgers, Turkish pide). Activities are booked separately: mini golf, batting cages, lawn bowls or archery, as well as open-air cinema screenings. Expect to pay £11 to £12.50 for a cocktail. A bottomless brunch and huts that groups can hire out round off the offer.
Practical information
Roof East is seasonal: it reopens every spring and closes at the end of summer; the website announces the next reopening for spring 2027. In 2026, it was open in April and May from Wednesday to Friday, 5pm to 11pm, and at weekends from noon to 11pm, then from June to September from Tuesday to Friday, 5pm to 11pm, and at weekends from noon to 11pm. Entry is free and tables can't be booked; minors are only admitted when accompanied, until 5pm at weekends and on bank holidays. Lifts run up from the ground floor. Stratford station (Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth lines, DLR and London Overground) is a few minutes' walk away.
