Bōkan: Canary Wharf from the 39th floor
Three floors at the top of a Docklands tower
On Marsh Wall, in the heart of the old docks district, the Novotel London Canary Wharf devotes its top three levels to Bōkan. The decor blends raw steel, wood and nods to the maritime past of the Isle of Dogs, once one of the busiest dock areas in the world. Through the picture windows, your gaze sweeps across the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf, the meanders of the Thames and Greenwich.
On the 39th floor, the rooftop bar extends onto an open-air terrace with no reservations: seating is on a first come, first served basis. Terrace service is suspended during the winter months, but the indoor bar on the top floor stays open all year round.
European cuisine and cocktails inspired by the city
On the 37th floor, the Bōkan 37 restaurant, holder of an AA Rosette, serves seasonal European cuisine built on British produce, as a two- or three-course menu (£55 or £65) or a tasting menu; brunch is served on Saturdays. On the 38th, the main bar showcases locally distilled spirits, craft beers and an extensive wine list. Cocktails from the “Archive Collection” menu, house creations and reworked classics, cost £15 to £17, with a few bites to go with them. The spaces can be hired for parties or corporate events.
