Duck & Waffle: the City at any hour, from the 40th floor
A restaurant open day and night
Duck & Waffle opened in 2012 at the top of 110 Bishopsgate, the tower long known as Heron Tower. A glass lift glides up the outside of the building to the 40th floor, where the fully glazed dining room looks east and south: the towers of Canary Wharf, the bend of the Thames, the nearby Gherkin and the tip of the Shard. Rare for London, it never closes: you can come for breakfast at 6am, a business lunch, dinner or a snack at 3am.
Duck, waffles and cocktails
The dish that gave the place its name pairs a crispy confit duck leg, a fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup on a waffle. Around it, the menu changes through the day: English breakfasts, weekend brunch, a Sunday roast served from 11.30am to 3.30pm, afternoon tea presented in a painted egg, bar plates and a late-night menu.
At the bar, signature cocktails are around £18, with a selection of alcohol-free options. Several spaces can be hired for group meals or events, for 10 to 250 guests.
