Coq d'Argent: a French-style garden on the rooftops of Bank
The roof of a landmark building
No. 1 Poultry, a postmodern building that leaves no one indifferent, stands at the Bank junction, opposite the Bank of England. A private lift goes up to its roof, where Coq d'Argent occupies a restaurant originally designed by Conran and a series of terraces: a lawn, planted walkways, climbing vines and tables sheltered beneath large sails. The views take in the rooftops and towers of the City, just above the Bank junction.
French cuisine and cocktails
The menu stays true to classic French cooking, with seasonal dishes, an express menu, set menus that change regularly and a brunch offer. The circular bar serves signature cocktails from £16 to £20, champagnes and a long wine list. The terraces lend themselves to business lunches as much as to summer dinners in the open air, and several private rooms can be hired for groups. Dogs are welcome, provided a few simple rules are followed.
