Wagtail: the City in 360 degrees from King William Street
Two floors beneath the roof of an Art Deco building
Between Monument and Bank, 68 King William Street is one of the City's great Art Deco buildings. Wagtail has moved into its upper floors, on two levels. On the 9th floor, the restaurant and its indoor bar open onto two terraces, on the east and west sides, with views of the Thames. A staircase leads to the 10th floor, where the roof terrace, with its own bar, offers a full panorama: the Shard and the Monument on one side, the dome of St Paul's, Tower Bridge, the Gherkin and the Walkie-Talkie on the other. In winter, this terrace is covered and heated, and igloos are set up on the 9th floor.
Seasonal food, brunch and cocktails
The kitchen showcases seasonal British produce, with an à la carte menu, a lunch menu, a Sunday roast and a terrace menu for grazing. Saturday and Sunday brunch is among the most sought-after occasions. House cocktails are £15, served alongside a selection of wines and cigars. Thanks to a late licence, resident DJs keep the evenings going until 1am towards the end of the week. The private room The Nest, at the very top of the building, hosts events.
