Kaso: a taste of the Mediterranean above the rooftops of Shoreditch
A hotel rooftop open to all
On Shoreditch High Street, the One Hundred Shoreditch hotel is home on its 7th floor to Kaso, a partly glazed bar and kitchen that opens onto a terrace planted with greenery. The décor, in shades of pink and terracotta, conjures up holidays by the Mediterranean. From the terrace, the view stretches across the rooftops of the East End towards the towers of the City. Outdoor tables are allocated as guests arrive, weather permitting.
Mezze, cocktails and house nights
In the kitchen, the chef serves mezze inspired by the Eastern Mediterranean and her Istanbul roots: hummus, muhammara, taramasalata, böreks, and grilled harissa chicken or beef skewers, all for sharing. Cocktails, at around £15, play on citrus, fruit and chilli, with an alcohol-free selection too. On Thursdays and Fridays from 5pm to 7pm, “Yappy Hour” offers wine and beer at £6 and cocktails at £10. At weekends, DJs play everything from house to Balearic sounds from 8pm. The venue also hosts groups and private parties.
