Frank's Cafe: summer on top of a Peckham car park
A seasonal bar at the heart of an arts venue
Since 2009, Frank's Cafe has set up every summer at the top of the Rye Lane multi-storey car park in Peckham, as part of Bold Tendencies, a non-profit arts organisation that occupies levels 7 to 10 of the building. Designed by Practice Architecture, the cafe is easy to spot thanks to its large red canopy stretched over a timber frame, beneath which long communal tables are lined up. You get up there via a famous pink-painted staircase.
The raw concrete of the roof offers clear views of the London skyline, from the towers of the centre to Canary Wharf, and the sunsets draw the crowds. The art installations, which change from season to season, complete the setting.
£10 cocktails and food from the grill
The 2026 menu prices all its cocktails at £10: negroni, margarita, spritz, mint daiquiri or frozen versions, alongside draught beers, wines and alcohol-free drinks. In the kitchen, everything is made on site to order, with small plates and grilled dishes that follow the seasons.
Practical information
Frank's Cafe only opens in the warmer months: in 2026, from 15 May to 12 September, Wednesday to Sunday from 11am to 11pm. Entry is free, tables can't be booked (first come, first served) and it's card payment only; it's best to arrive early on sunny days. Step-free access is available on request. Peckham Rye station (London Overground and Southeastern trains from London Bridge and Victoria) is 150 m from the entrance.
