Glass Bar: on the roof of the Dancing House
An architectural icon on the banks of the Vltava
On the embankment, on the corner of Jiráskovo náměstí square, the Dancing House (Tančící dům) is one of the most photographed modern buildings in Prague. Its two intertwined towers, designed by architect Vlado Milunić with Frank Gehry, evoke a couple of dancers. Right at the top, the Glass Bar occupies the top floor: an indoor area with large picture windows and an open-air terrace at the foot of the metal and glass sculpture that crowns the building.
The view sweeps across the river towards Prague Castle and Malá Strana, with the National Theatre and the Old Town embankments to the right. At sunset, the spectacle draws a crowd: it is best to arrive early.
Coffee in the morning, cocktails in the evening
The bar opens at 10am and serves coffees, teas and soft drinks first, then wines, Czech beers such as Pilsner Urquell and classic cocktails. The menu stays short and accessible: Aperol Spritz or Hugo, Margarita, Negroni, Espresso Martini, Piña Colada, with a few alcohol-free versions. Rum lovers can try a tasting flight of four premium rums.
Parties and private events
The Glass Bar regularly hosts evenings organised with brands, such as its sunset sessions, and can be hired for events. The panoramic terrace can be booked on the official website, which can come in handy at peak times.
