Terasa U Zlaté studně: the City of a Hundred Spires from above
Below the castle walls
The U Zlaté studně hotel (“At the Golden Well”) occupies a house whose history dates back to 1528, clinging to the slope of Malá Strana at the foot of Prague Castle. Around 1900, a small inn here was already making the most of the view over the rooftops. Today, the restaurant occupies the 4th and top floor: an elegant dining room opening onto a large terrace, and a second, smaller terrace reserved for the Louis XIII bar. The panorama takes in the red roofs of Malá Strana, the dome of St Nicholas Church, the Vltava and the towers of the Old Town.
In summer, the terrace normally gives private access to the Royal Gardens of Prague Castle; this access is currently closed by decision of the castle administration.
High-flying cuisine
Chef Lukáš Hlaváček learned his craft in Michelin-starred kitchens, notably at The Ledbury in London and then at Meadowood in California. His light, precise cooking relies on seasonal produce, top-quality fish and seafood and the best of local produce. It can be enjoyed à la carte or as a tasting menu, with wine pairings. Gault & Millau has awarded it three toques.
The Louis XIII bar
The bar is one of around forty “fortresses” of Rémy Martin's Louis XIII cognac worldwide. On its small terrace, you can also enjoy champagnes, fine wines and cocktails at aperitif time or at sunset.
