Austria's tallest structure

Opened in 1964 in the middle of the Donaupark, on the left bank of the Danube, the Donauturm rises to 252 metres. Express lifts whisk visitors up in about thirty seconds to the panoramic terrace at 150 metres, where the view takes in the entire city, Donau City and its skyscrapers, the Danube and, on clear days, far beyond. The tower even has a slide that runs from 165 down to 150 metres.

A revolving restaurant

At 170 metres, the Turm Restaurant slowly rotates: over the course of a meal, you take in the whole horizon, from the towers of Donau City to the Kahlenberg hills, via the Danube and the central districts. Every table is set against the panoramic windows. The kitchen combines Viennese classics, seasonal regional specialities and a few international dishes, with a children's menu.

Ten metres below, the Turm Café, which also revolves, serves coffee, cakes, brunch, light dishes and drinks in an atmosphere that is part Viennese coffee house, part bar.

Good to know

The restaurant has no terrace: it is featured here for its exceptional panorama. Access to the tower is paid, including for restaurant guests; those who book a table get a 50% discount on the ticket. One main course per person is required, and the restaurant, accessible only by stairs, is not wheelchair accessible.
