The Crown: Chinatown from the 21st floor
A lounge between two terraces
On the Bowery, at the corner of Canal Street, Hotel 50 Bowery rises above Chinatown, a few blocks from Little Italy and the Lower East Side, so you can grab dinner in the neighborhood before heading up for a drink. Its 21st floor is home to The Crown, a rooftop built around a big indoor lounge with a bar, flanked by two open-air terraces. From the terraces, the view sweeps all the way around Manhattan, from the Midtown skyscrapers to the towers at the southern end of the island.
Things heat up as the night goes on: the venue goes all in on DJ-fueled nights, and the lounge turns into a dance floor.
Cocktails, Sunset Hour and small plates
Cocktails run around $20. On weekdays, Sunset Hour brings $12 well cocktails, $6 beers and $9 glasses of wine, plus the small-plates menu at half price: onion dip, crudités and spicy feta, chicken wings, flatbreads. Bottle service is available for tables, and the team throws private parties, from small groups to large-scale events.
Practical information
The rooftop is open daily from 4pm to midnight, with Sunset Hour Monday through Friday in the late afternoon. Tables for 1 to 12 people can be booked online, and larger groups go through a dedicated form; it can get packed on party nights. Subway: Grand Street (B and D trains) or Canal Street (J, Z, N, Q, R, W and 6 trains), a five-minute walk.
