ART SoHo: a laid-back roof facing the Hudson
A big terrace above Hudson Square
The Arlo SoHo hotel sits on Hudson Street at the corner of Canal Street, in the Hudson Square neighborhood. Its roof is home to ART SoHo, one of the rooftops in the small ART (Arlo Roof Top) family, which also has outposts in NoMad, Midtown and Williamsburg. There's an indoor space and a sprawling terrace furnished with banquettes, high-top tables, umbrellas and shade sails.
The panorama is quintessential downtown: the Hudson to the west, the rooftops and water towers of the West Village to the north, and the outline of One World Trade Center to the south. In the evening, DJs regularly spin on the terrace.
Frozen cocktails, pitchers and tacos
The menu is all about good times with friends: house cocktails from $18 to $24, seasonal cocktails and frozen margaritas at $22, pitchers for sharing and a few classics at $14. For bites, there are tacos, chicken bites, oysters and burgers; the kitchen closes at 10pm. Happy hour runs in the late afternoon. The rooftop can be booked in full or in part for events.
Practical information
ART SoHo is open Monday through Friday from 4pm to 11pm, Saturday from 2pm to midnight and Sunday from 4pm to 11pm; the terrace is weather-dependent. Walk-ins are welcome, but booking a table online saves you the wait on weekend nights. Subway: Canal Street (1 train), steps away, or Canal Street (A, C and E trains), a few minutes' walk.
