Overstory: a sky-high bar atop the Financial District
A terrace that wraps around the tower
Getting there is part of the experience: you enter through the red marble lobby of 70 Pine Street, between Pearl Street and William Street, a dedicated elevator takes you up to the 63rd floor, and then a travertine staircase leads to the bar, set just above Saga restaurant. Inside, the lounge is intentionally small, capped at about 35 people around a curved bar, so it never feels packed.
The real draw is outside. A terrace runs uninterrupted around the entire floor and offers 360-degree views of New York: on one side, the East River, the Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn; on the other, the towers of Lower Manhattan and, farther off, those of Midtown. It has a surprising number of tables and chairs.
Creative cocktails and small plates
The menu leans into creative cocktails with unexpected pairings, like the Japanese AF with Japanese whisky, yuzu, nori and buckwheat, or the Five Spice Milk Punch with clarified rum. A few nonalcoholic options, New York State beers and a short wine list round things out. For snacking, there's spicy popcorn, a potato croquette, truffle grilled cheese, a lobster roll or fried chicken with cornbread.
The bar is 21+ only. There's no strict dress code, but tank tops, flip-flops and athletic wear are considered too casual.
