Architecture of wood and greenery
Opened in 2025 at the top of the InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit, on Soi Sukhumvit 59, Sanctuary stands apart from the glass-and-steel rooftops. Bamboo, rattan, carved wood and plants form a kind of floating pavilion, open to the sky and surrounded by greenery. In October 2025, it won the global award in the “Alfresco & Biophilic Design” category at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.
The bar is mostly open-air; between the trees and the wooden terraces, the city appears in glimpses, especially at sunset.
Cocktails with Thai flavours
The menu turns ingredients and desserts familiar in Thailand into cocktails: banana roti, mango sticky rice, Thai tea with coconut, watermelon and katsuobushi. Signature creations are around 440 baht. To go with them, carefully crafted small plates: tuna miang kham, beef tongue stir-fried with holy basil, Thai wagyu sando, chips with ikura or a charcuterie and cheese board.
Practical information
Sanctuary is open daily from 5pm until around midnight. Entry is free and booking is recommended, as tables fill up quickly; a reserved table is released if you are more than fifteen minutes late. DJs and curated music accompany the evenings. BTS Thong Lo station, exit 4, then about a seven-minute walk; parking at the hotel. As the bar is mostly open-air, it's best to keep an eye on the weather during the rainy season, from May to October.
