Three levels atop a Sukhumvit tower

Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar crowns the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, at the start of Soi 57, in the lively Thonglor district. The venue is spread over several levels: a restaurant area on the 45th floor, then open-air bars rising up to the 49th. On the top level, an illuminated circular bar takes pride of place in the middle of a terrace open to the whole horizon.

As few tall towers rise in the surrounding area, the view stretches far: the Sukhumvit artery runs off to one side, and the city extends as far as the Chao Phraya on the other. Sunset is particularly popular, and the crowd is a mix of locals, expats and travellers.

Cocktails, dinner and a lounge atmosphere

People mainly come for the cocktails served in front of the panorama, while the lower level, on the 45th floor, is better suited to a proper dinner of international cuisine. Moving from one floor to another lets you start the evening quietly before joining the more festive atmosphere of the upper levels. The hotel is also home to ATTIC by Octave, a more intimate, Mexican-inspired bar on the 47th floor.

Practical information

Octave is open daily from 5pm until late at night (2am according to the hotel). Bookings can be made online or by phone with the hotel and are recommended for a table at sunset. Smart casual dress is required: sportswear, flip-flops and sleeveless tops for men are not accepted. Thong Lo BTS station (exit 3) is just a few steps away. As the terraces are uncovered, a downpour can cut the evening short during the rainy season, from May to October.
