A roof atop the Ateneo Mercantil
The Ateneo Mercantil is one of the most prominent buildings on Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the great crossroads of central Valencia. Its top level, on the 8th floor, is home to Atenea Sky, an open-air space of more than 400 m² that can host around 150 people. The entrance is not through the main façade but at the back of the building, at number 12 calle Moratín.
From the balustrade, the square spreads out directly below and the view sweeps 360° across the roofs, domes and towers of the historic centre. Sunset is the most sought-after moment.
Orange cocktails and Valencian cuisine
The cocktail menu pays tribute to the Valencia orange: an Agua de Atenea reinvented with cava and orange blossom, a Fuego en las alturas with tequila and saffron, or L'Horta with Valencian tomato, all at €13, like the great classics. Under the pergola, the restaurant area serves cuisine based on local produce, a weekday lunch menu and a sushi menu. DJ sets, shows and themed evenings regularly liven up the terrace, which can also be booked exclusively for events.
Practical information
Open every day from noon to 1.30am. Entry is free from noon to 4pm, Sunday to Friday; after that, an entry fee is charged, from €10 in the afternoon and from €14 on Friday and Saturday evenings. Meals can be booked on the website; for a drink, a prepaid reservation of €30 per person is available, otherwise just turn up, subject to available space. Smart dress code: no sportswear, flip-flops, caps or backpacks. Colón metro (lines 3, 5, 7 and 9) is about 450 metres away.
