La Terraza del EME: the Giralda within reach
A roof at the foot of the Cathedral
On calle Alemanes, the five-star EME Catedral Mercer hotel occupies a group of 16th-century houses that have been joined together and turned into a contemporary hotel. Its roof is home to La Terraza del EME, a panoramic bar open to everyone, not just hotel guests.
The setting is striking: a narrow street separates the building from the Cathedral, and the Giralda seems within arm's reach. From the terrace's different levels, the view also takes in the Church of El Salvador, calle Argote de Molina and the rooftops of Santa Cruz, across 360 degrees. At sunset, when the Cathedral's stone turns golden, spots are highly sought after.
Cocktails, cold tapas and a DJ
The menu focuses on cocktails, all at the same price of €16, from the mojito to the negroni, including a house creation made with bourbon and cinnamon, the Aire de Sevilla. Gin and tonics, wines, cava and beers round out the offering, along with a few cold tapas to nibble on: Iberian ham, anchovies, gildas, fried almonds. On Fridays and Saturdays, a resident DJ livens up the evening. The spaces can be booked in part or in full for private or corporate events.
Practical information
The terrace is open every day from noon to 1am, and until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. No reservation is needed, subject to available space; reserved tables with a prepaid spend, from €200 for four people, are offered in certain areas. The pool is reserved for hotel guests. The venue may refuse entry for attire deemed inappropriate. T1 tram: Archivo de Indias stop, about 250 metres away.
