Terraza Catedral: in the shadow of la Manquita
A roof right in the historic centre
Plaza del Siglo, a small square in the historic centre, is a stone's throw from the Cathedral. The building at number 2 houses the OXO museum devoted to video games; on its 4th floor, Terraza Catedral occupies the roof with an open-air terrace on wooden decking and a covered, glass-walled room.
The Cathedral tower, which the people of Malaga nickname la Manquita, rises just above the neighbouring roofs, and Gibralfaro hill can be made out further away. At sunset, the stone turns golden and then lights up, and the tables along the edge are then highly sought after.
Food to share and cocktails
The menu ranges from ensaladilla rusa (€11.50) and croquettes (from €8.50) to black rice, grilled meats, woks and burgers, with an XL cachopo to share between two and a children's menu. At the bar, classic cocktails cost from €9 to €11: mojito, negroni, margarita, piña colada, several spritzes, plus alcohol-free cocktails at €8. A list of around forty wines rounds out the offering. The terrace can be booked in part or in full for group meals, meetings or corporate events.
