La Terraza de la Alcazaba: facing Malaga's fortress
A balcony over the Alcazaba and the Roman Theatre
Calle Alcazabilla runs along the foot of the hill on which the Alcazaba stands, Malaga's former Muslim fortress. At number 12, the Alcazaba Premium hotel has set up a chill-out terrace on its top floor that is open to everyone, not just its guests. It is spread over two levels and can hold around a hundred people.
The spectacle is right opposite: the ochre walls of the Alcazaba, the remains of the Roman Theatre in the foreground and, higher up, Gibralfaro Castle. In the late afternoon, when the sun warms the stone, the face-to-face with the fortress is striking.
Bartenders' cocktails and a short menu from Batik
The bar is run by bartenders who are regulars at cocktail competitions. The menu mixes classics (mojito, margarita, negroni or espresso martini at around €9 to €9.50), spritzes at €9 and house creations from €9.50 to €14, with an alcohol-free selection. For a bite to eat, the kitchen of Batik, the restaurant on the floor below, sends over a few dishes: cheese board, prawn croquettes, patatas bravas, cheesecake. Batik itself has a small terrace facing the Alcazaba, handy for moving on from dinner to a last drink. The terrace can be booked exclusively for events.
