A restaurant perched above the Bairro Alto
The Lumiares Hotel & Spa occupies a building in the Bairro Alto, a few steps from the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint. Its top level, on the 5th floor, houses Lumi: a dining room with teal banquettes, extended by a long wooden terrace lined with tropical plants and a glass balustrade. The restaurant and bar are open to everyone, not just hotel guests.
From the terrace, the eye travels over the tiled roofs of the Chiado and the Baixa to the Tagus estuary and the south bank. It is the place for lunch in the sun or a drink at the end of the day, before heading down into the lively lanes of the neighbourhood.
Seasonal cuisine and weekend brunch
In the kitchen, chef João Silva favours Portuguese, local and seasonal produce, served from lunch to dinner. On Saturdays and Sundays, brunch is served from 11.30am. Festive menus are also published for Christmas and New Year.
The bar offers a list of signature cocktails and spritzes from €13 to €15, classics at €14, mocktails, a selection of Portuguese wines by the glass and by the bottle, and sangrias. The kitchen takes last orders at 10.15pm, the bar at 11.30pm.
Practical information
Open every day from noon to midnight, from 11.30am on Saturday and Sunday. Booking recommended, online or by phone. The Lumiares is in the upper part of the Bairro Alto, near the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint: from Praça dos Restauradores (Restauradores metro, blue line), the Glória funicular climbs up to the viewpoint. Baixa-Chiado station (blue and green lines) is about ten minutes' walk away.
