A roof that opens to the sky
Hotel Rum, a 40-room design hotel, occupies an old building on Királyi Pál utca, in Belváros, near Kálvin tér. On its 7th floor, Solid is surrounded by large windows overlooking the rooftops of central Budapest. When the weather is fine, the roof opens and breakfast is taken under the open sky; on cooler days it stays closed and a fireplace warms the room, without losing any of the view. Hanging plants, wood and pink banquettes create a bright decor.
The little sibling of a starred restaurant
Solid is the sister restaurant of SALT, awarded one Michelin star and a Michelin Green Star, located on the ground floor of the same building. The two share producers, fermented flavours and a commitment to Hungarian traditions. Chef René Rába draws on his childhood memories and his grandparents' recipes. Solid itself has been listed in the Michelin Guide since 2023.
On the menu: eggs Benedict with pork or smoked trout, a kimchi sandwich, broccoli gratin with brie, a cinnamon pancake, small plates to share such as black bread with goat's cheese and caviar, and Hungarian sparkling wines or champagne to go with brunch.

Open in the morning only: Monday to Wednesday from 7am to noon, Thursday to Sunday from 7am to 2pm. Booking online or on +36 70 333 2113. Expect to pay around 4,500 to 5,000 Ft for a dish. Smart casual dress required. Metro M3 or M4, Kálvin tér station, a few minutes' walk away; Pollack and Nagycsarnok car parks nearby.
