Leo Rooftop: the Chain Bridge in its sights
At the foot of the castle, facing the Danube
Hotel Clark stands on Clark Ádám tér, where the Chain Bridge meets the Buda bank; the square is named after the Scottish engineer who completed the bridge. On the 8th floor, Leo Rooftop looks straight down onto the bridge and the stone lions that guard it. Buda Castle rises close by, and across the river stretch the facade of Gresham Palace, the dome of St Stephen's Basilica and, further north, Parliament.
A jungle above the city
The bar is divided into two areas: an outdoor section, which also serves as a smoking area, and an indoor section that is covered all year round, ideal when the weather is cold. Tropical plants, colourful banquettes and large picture windows set the tone. From Thursday to Sunday, DJs take to the decks.
Cocktails and small plates
The signature cocktail menu, "The Atlas of Lost Worlds", pays tribute to vanished civilisations: Minoan Empire with gin and basil, Easter Island with rum, Angkor with gochujang. A "Hungary rocks" series showcases Tokaji and apricot pálinka, and a long list of gin and tonics completes the offer. From the kitchen comes a menu of small plates to share, with vegetarian and vegan options, as well as Angus mini burgers.
Practical information
Open daily from noon to midnight; kitchen until 10pm, last bar orders at 11pm. All reservations are for two hours; for groups of more than seven, you need to write to the team. Book online or on +36 70 944 6320. Expect to pay 6,950 to 7,550 Ft for a signature cocktail. Dogs are welcome. Access: trams 19 and 41 or buses 16, 105 and 178, Clark Ádám tér stop. If the rooftop is full, Leo Bistro on the ground floor takes over.
