Cortile Sky Bar & Pool: a cocktail by the pool
On the roof of a boutique hotel
The Cortile Hotel, a boutique hotel on Dessewffy utca in the 6th district, behind the Opera House, opened its sky bar in 2020. On the 6th floor, a long infinity pool, sheltered under a glass roof, runs alongside large windows facing St Stephen's Basilica. Right next to it, an open-air terrace edged with glass and lit with string lights in the evening holds the bar's tables. Sunset behind Gellért Hill and the Citadel is a highlight of the evening here.
A swim above the city
Entry to the bar is free, but booking is required. The pool is open to non-hotel guests for an entrance fee that includes a welcome drink and a towel. Colourful cushions float on the water for those who would rather lounge than swim. The bar does not serve children under 14, and groups are limited to 10 people.
An intimate atmosphere
With just a handful of tables, the Sky Bar remains a low-key address compared with the city's big rooftops. Cocktails, wines and sparkling wines are enjoyed in peace, and the glass roof means the pool and the view can be enjoyed in every season.
