Serenity Rooftop: summer on the Waldorf Astoria terrace
An open-air lounge in the heart of City West
The Waldorf Astoria Berlin occupies one of the towers that dominate the area around Zoologischer Garten station, a stone's throw from the Kurfürstendamm. On the 6th floor, where the building's base gives way to the tower, a large terrace is home to Serenity Rooftop. This seasonal bar is run by an independent team that also runs the hotel's Lang Bar.
The setting evokes the Riviera: white sofas, colourful cushions, parasols and potted plants. There is no 360° panorama here, as the terrace is surrounded by towers, but you can enjoy the late-afternoon sun, the spire of the Gedächtniskirche and the façades of City West, which light up as night falls.
Spritzes, cocktails and evening events
The menu gives pride of place to spritzes (€15), long drinks and gin and tonics, along with a few house creations at around €18 and classics such as the espresso martini. Champagne and Provence rosés round out the offering. DJs play on some evenings, and the terrace also hosts private events and special nights.
Practical information
The terrace only opens in the warmer months, weather permitting. The posted opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 4pm to 10pm. Bookings are only taken for groups of six or more or for events; otherwise, just turn up. Access through the hotel, Hardenbergstraße 28. S+U Zoologischer Garten (U2, U9, S3, S5, S7, S9) right opposite; U-Bahn Kurfürstendamm (U1, U9) a few minutes' walk away.
