Hugos: a Michelin-starred restaurant on the 14th floor
Fine dining at the top of the InterContinental
The InterContinental Berlin stands on Budapester Straße, between the zoo, the Tiergarten and City West. Right at the top, on the 14th floor, Hugos is one of the city's great restaurants: it has held a star in the Michelin Guide without interruption since 1999 and is also listed in Gault & Millau.
There is no terrace here: the view is enjoyed through the large windows of the softly lit dining room. On one side, the eye sweeps over the city to the Fernsehturm; on the other, it meets the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and the towers of City West. At sunset and then after dark, the illuminated city forms the backdrop to dinner.
A creative tasting menu
Hugos offers a tasting menu of six or eight courses (€180 and €240), with an optional wine pairing and a vegetarian version. The precise, creative cooking works with seasonal and regional produce, such as Brandenburg roe deer or brook trout. On arrival, you can also start with canapés and a glass of champagne. Three private rooms, with the same view, host dinners and events for 10 to 180 people.
Practical information
The restaurant is open in the evenings only, Wednesday to Saturday from 6.30pm to midnight, all year round. Booking is strongly recommended, by phone or through the hotel. Access is via the InterContinental, Budapester Straße 2. S+U Zoologischer Garten and U-Bahn Wittenbergplatz are about ten minutes' walk away.
