On the roof of a modernist building

Facing the historic centre from across the harbour basin, the NH Collection Copenhagen hotel occupies a fully renovated 1962 building, which reopened in 2021 with its 394 rooms. Its roof is home to ROOF, a lounge bar perched on the 8th floor. From here the view takes in the whole city: the harbour and its quays, the tower of Christiansborg Palace, the steeples and green copper roofs of the centre, and the new waterfront districts.

Cocktails that tell the city's story

The menu changes every season and draws its inspiration from the panorama: the signature cocktails are named after landmarks visible from the terrace, such as the Round Tower, the Marble Church, the Opera House or the Royal Danish Theatre, and their colours, glassware and presentation take their cue from them. Classics are still available on request, and mocktails round out the offer. On the food side, there are refined small plates to share, a few salads, desserts and Danish cheeses, alongside a fine list of champagnes and wines by the glass.

A season from April to October

You settle into outdoor lounge seating among the planters, or under the heated pergola when the wind picks up off the harbour. The spot is especially popular at sunset, when the low light gilds the city's spires: it's best to book a table, as seating is limited. The terrace can also be hired privately for parties and corporate events.

Open in season, from April to mid-October (10 April to 17 October in 2026), Monday to Saturday from 3pm to 11pm; closed on Sundays and in winter, reopening planned for April 2027. Signature cocktails from 145 to 160 Danish kroner (DKK). Online booking recommended. Access through the hotel entrance, Strandgade 7; Christianshavn metro (lines M1 and M2) a few minutes' walk away.
